Tarasova said that for Russia Samodelkina was not promising and talented
Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova appreciated the transition of Russian figure skater Sofia Samodelkina to the Kazakhstan national team. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Tarasova said that if the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) released the athlete to another country, it means that it does not consider it a big loss. “For the Kazakhstan national team she may be promising and talented, but for our team she was not,” the specialist noted.
Earlier it was reported that the FFKKR gave permission for Samodelkina to compete for another country. The figure skater will be able to represent a foreign team at international tournaments starting next season.
The figure skater’s desire to change her sports citizenship became known in August 2023. Samodelkina is Russian vice-champion in women’s singles skating among juniors. She also has victories and prizes at the stages of the Russian Cup.
