Felipe was part of the Corinthians squad that won the Libertadores and World Cup in 2012, when he was not yet a starter. He would become an important part of the 2015 six-time Brazilian champion team, coached by Tite, when he formed a central defense partnership with Gil.
He left Corinthians to join Porto in 2016. In his first stint in Europe, the defender was crucial in the Portuguese Championship titles in the 2017/18 season, and the Portuguese Super Cup in 2019. His great last season with Porto earned him a transfer to Atlético de Madrid, where he was part of the great victory of the Spanish Championship in 2021.
Felipe then transferred to Nottingham Forest in 2023, where he spent the remaining year and a half of his career.
