Spanish newspaper reflects the end of the 2012 Corinthians team

The year 2012 was magical for Corinthians. Champion of the Copa Libertadores and the Club World Cup, the players from that team were forever marked in black and white history. With Cássio’s departure to Cruzeiro, that team has only one remaining member of Timão’s current squad. The Spanish newspaper “as” published an article about the end of 2012 world champion Corinthians.

The last player on that team is midfielder Paulinho, who may also have his days numbered at Corinthians. The 35-year-old player has a contract until the end of June and the contract renewal process is at a standstill. If Paulinho leaves Timão, all members of the 2012 squad would either be retired or on other teams.

In the Spanish newspaper’s article, other names that had spells in European and Arab football are highlighted, such as Willian Arão (currently at Panathinaikos in Greece), Felipe (recently retired from Nottingham Forest) and Romarinho (from Al- Ittihad).

On December 16, 2012, Corinthians defeated Chelsea 1-0 with a goal from Paolo Guerrero (currently at César Vallejo in Peru), winning the Club World Cup. Since then, no other South American football team has won the world tournament again.
