RPL clubs will play their first play-off matches on their home fields
A draw for the play-off matches for the right to remain in the Russian Premier League (RPL) for the 2024/2025 season took place at the Football House. The results are reported on the website of the Russian Football Union (RFU).
The first meetings will be held on May 29, the return matches on June 1. RPL clubs will play their first play-off matches with First League teams on their home fields. “If FC Baltika becomes a participant in the play-off matches, transition matches with the participation of this club will be held on June 6 and 9,” the statement notes. This is due to the participation of Kaliningraders in the Russian Cup final on June 2.
At the moment, on the 13th and 14th lines of the tournament table, which imply participation in the playoffs, are Fakel and Nizhny Novgorod, respectively. Also, depending on the results of the latest matches, Ural, Orenburg and Baltika may get into these places.
After 33 rounds of the First League, Akron and Arsenal are in third and fourth places. At the same time, the latter was denied a license to participate in the RPL, so Rodina has a chance to enter the RPL.
Earlier it became known that Sochi, which took the last 16th place, would not play in the RPL next season. Khimki will return to the elite division, and Dynamo Makhachkala will take part in the tournament for the first time.
