French foil fencer Thibus explained doping by sex and was acquitted
The Anti-Doping Tribunal of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) has acquitted Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Isaora Tibus. The French athlete announced this on Instagram (social network banned in Russia; belongs to the Meta company, recognized as an extremist organization and banned in the Russian Federation).
“Words cannot describe the emotions I felt when I learned about the decision made by the FIE tribunal. The last few months have been terribly stressful, and now the culmination of a long struggle has come,” the rapierist wrote, thanking her lawyers, team and loved ones. Thus, Thibus was found innocent and will be able to take part in the 2024 home Olympics.
In early February, it was reported that Tibus had tested positive for ostarine. She explained the entry of prohibited substances into her body by sexual contact with her husband, foil player Race Imboden, who was taking the drug.
In addition to the Tokyo Games silver in team foil, 32-year-old Thibus has a gold, three silver and six bronze medals at the world championships in various disciplines.
