The fight between Usik and Fury was illegally watched by at least 20 million people
At least 20 million people watched illegal broadcasts of the fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight boxing champion between Ukrainian Alexander Usik and Briton Tyson Fury. The results of the calculation, carried out by the analytical company Yield Sec, were published by the Daily Mail.
However, the real number of such viewers may be higher, since in the analysis the company proceeded from the fact that one illegal broadcast was watched by one person. Europe accounts for 45 percent of the total number of pirated broadcasts, North America – 25, Asia – 16.
The rights to broadcast the fight were bought by Sky Sports, TNT Sport and DAZN. The fight was not officially shown in Russia.
The fight between Usik and Fury took place on the night of May 19 in Saudi Arabia. The fight lasted all 12 rounds and ended with the victory of the Ukrainian by a split decision – 115-112, 113-114, 114-113.
