Swedish football player Pontus Wernbloom apologized for playing for CSKA
Former CSKA Moscow midfielder, Swede Pontus Wernbloom, apologized for playing for the army club. His words are quoted by Aftonbladet.
The footballer justified his actions by saying that at the time the contract was signed, the situation in the world was completely different. “If I have offended anyone, I humbly apologize in advance,” he said.
Wernbloom previously said that he was afraid of moving to Russia after signing a contract with CSKA. According to him, the West does not speak very well of Russia, so he had concerns. He also admitted that he lied several times during negotiations with the army leadership about his knowledge of Russia.
Wernbloom played for CSKA from 2012 to 2018. Together with the team, he became the champion of Russia three times and won the national cup. In the 2015/2016 season, the Swede was included in the list of the best players in the championship according to the Russian Football Union.
