Firstly, the 34-year-old athlete said goodbye to Real Madrid, the club where he won multiple titles and only has a contract until the end of the season.

“July 17, 2014, the day I presented at Real Madrid, a day that changed my life. My life as a football player, but above all as a person. It was the beginning of a new life at the biggest club in the world. Today, After 10 years, at the end of the season, this life comes to an end. I will never forget this exciting and successful decade!”, he wrote.

“I would like to especially thank president Florentino Pérez, the club and everyone who welcomed me with an open heart and trusted me. But most of all I want to thank you, dear Real Madrid fans, for your love and support from the first to the last day “, he added.

Afterwards, the player confirmed that he wanted to retire at Real Madrid and that Euro 2024 will be the last tournament of his career. The national team championship takes place in Germany, de Kroos’ home country, between June 14th and July 14th.

For the Spanish club, Kroos will still play in the Champions League final, scheduled for June 1st, against Borussia Dortmund, at Wembley Stadium, in London. He preached focus on the decision.

Toni Kroos joined Real Madrid in 2014 from Bayern Munich. In 463 matches with the Merengue club’s shirt, he became one of the team’s pillars and won 22 titles so far, including four Champions Leagues and five Club World Cups.
