Footballer Chervyakov: ready to renounce Ukrainian citizenship for the sake of the Russian national team
Moscow Torpedo footballer Ruslan Chervyakov announced his readiness to renounce Ukrainian citizenship. His words are quoted by Match TV.
19-year-old Chervyakov said that he has two passports and expressed his readiness to renounce his Ukrainian sports citizenship in order to play for the Russian national team. “The bad soldier is the one who doesn’t want to become a general. The goals are the highest: to play for the national team and in the Champions League, God willing, it will happen soon. We will work for this,” he noted.
Chervyakov has been playing for Torpedo since the summer of 2023. Before that, he represented the Ukrainian Dnepr, Shakhtar and Ingulets.
Earlier, Ukrainian footballer Arthur Murza, who plays for the Russian club Murom from the Second League, described his attitude towards Russia. “I was brought up on friendship between Ukrainians and Russians. Russia will always be a brotherly country for me,” he shared.
