The English Championship ended this Sunday and Manchester City won the title once again. Arsenal fought until the end, but failed to become champions. Despite this, manager Mikel Arteta believes the Gunners will lift the trophy in the coming years.
“If we do what we have to do, we will be closer and we will win in the end. When? I don’t know, but if we keep beating and being so close, it will happen in the end,” he told Sky Sports after the 2-1 victory over Everton, at the Emirates Stadium, in the last round of the Premier League.
The triumph was not enough for Arsenal to win the competition, the London club needed a stumble from the Citizens to win the title. However, the team led by coach Pep Guardiola beat West Ham 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
With the results, the Manchester team finished the national league in first place, with 91 points. While the Gunners ended the competition in second place, with 89 points.

Arteta congratulated City on their achievement and praised the work done by his squad.
“Congratulations to Manchester City on winning the Premier League,” he said. “Today, some mixed emotions. Firstly, I’m very proud of the team and these players. They did an incredible job and went beyond all the limits and margins we could to try to win this Premier League”, he reported.
Finally, the Spanish coach also revealed what Arsenal needs to win the national league.
“There’s only one way to do this: you have to be more determined, you have to be more ambitious, you have to have a lot of courage and push all limits in everything we have.”
This is the second time in a row that the Gunners have lost the title to City. Last season, Arsenal led much of the competition, but were overtaken by the Manchester team in the final stretch.
