St. Petersburg Zenit beat Grozny Akhmat in the match of the 29th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL). A Lenta.ru correspondent reported this on Sunday, May 19.
The meeting, held in Grozny, ended with a score of 5:1 in favor of the guests, with Colombian Casierra scoring all five goals for the winners. He became the first tournament player in the 21st century to score a penta-trick. Akhmat’s only goal was scored by Mohamed Konate.
Thanks to this victory, Zenit scored 54 points and took second place in the RPL standings, displacing Krasnodar from there. Akhmat remained in tenth place with 35 points.
On May 15, Zenit reached the Russian Cup Superfinal. The blue-white-blues beat CSKA Moscow on penalties – 5:4. In the decisive match of the tournament, which will take place on June 2, the St. Petersburg team will meet with Baltika Kaliningrad.
