19-year-old SKA forward Matvey Michkov will move to the National Hockey League (NHL) Philadelphia Flyers. Sports Express journalist Arthur Khairullin reported this on his Telegram channel.
According to Khairullin, the rights to the player will remain with the St. Petersburg club. Michkov spent the last season of the Kontinental Hockey League on loan in Sochi. In 47 matches, the striker scored 41 points (19 goals and 22 assists). He played one more match during the season for SKA.
In June 2023, Philadelphia selected Michkov seventh overall in the first overall NHL Entry Draft. Besides him, three more Russians were drafted in the first round: Dmitry Simashev, Daniil But and Mikhail Gulyaev.
At the end of last season, the Flyers did not make the playoffs. In the regular season, the team took 11th place in the NHL Eastern Conference table.
