Midfielder Thiago Alcântara, a Brazilian naturalized Spaniard, will not remain at Liverpool for next season. The announcement came this Friday morning, when the English club announced that the athlete will not have his contract renewed.
“Thiago Alcântara’s time at the Reds will come to an end at the end of the season, with the end of his contract,” it was written.
Thiago Alcantara arrived at Liverpool in 2020. Before that, he shone with the Bayern Munich shirt and, a season before his transfer to the English club, he won the Champions League with the German team.
Son of Mazinho and brother of Rafinha Alcântara, Thiago also has a spell at Barcelona, the club where he was revealed. At Liverpool, the athlete suffered from injuries and was unable to achieve the same protagonism as at other clubs.

In the England team, Thiago Alcântara played 98 games and scored six goals. Reds coach Jurgen Klopp praised the midfielder.
“Technically he is very, very good. A talent that could play for any team in the world and it was a privilege to have him with us. I already knew a lot about him as a football player before arriving here – what he did at Barcelona and at Bayern Munich, how could I not? – and I couldn’t have been happier when he decided to take on a new challenge with us”, he said.
“From then on I got to see him up close and all I can say is ‘Wow’. The most important thing is that he was part of a new story and helped us because of his special qualities. I know the injuries have been a frustration for him and also for us, but the level he was able to play when he was available was incredible.”
At 33 years old, Thiago Alcântra has not yet revealed his future. At the end of his contract, he will be able to sign with any club for free.
