MMA fighter Alexander Emelianenko underwent treatment for alcohol addiction
Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Alexander Emelianenko underwent treatment for alcohol addiction in Ingushetia. TASS reports this.
Emelianenko has been in the rehabilitation center since June 2023. At the moment, the fighter is a volunteer of the organization where he was treated.
On April 12, Emelianenko was supposed to have a rematch with Vyacheslav Datsik, but the fight was postponed due to technical reasons. A new date for their meeting has not yet been announced.
Earlier, coach Ramazan Ismailov described Emelianenko’s disappearance with the phrase “succumbed to passions.” In his opinion, the athlete could have been hidden from people.
Emelianenko repeatedly got into scandals related to his alcohol addiction. At the same time, he said that he liked this way of life. “I went to hospitals, they provided me with VIP wards, they gave me drippings, they prescribed procedures. Then I went out and thought: no one will find out, I’ll grab a beer. And again it all started from the same thing,” said Emelianenko.
