The first Women’s Club World Cup will bring together 16 teams between January and February 2026 in an as yet unknown host country. FIFA’s announcement took place this Wednesday (15), during its 74th Congress, in Bangkok.
The new women’s competition will be held every four years, as will the men’s World Cup, expanded to 32 teams and whose first edition is scheduled to take place from June 15 to July 13, 2025, in the United States.
According to FIFA, which has been following a strategy of investing more in club football, the decision to create the tournament was made to “facilitate the continued development of women’s clubs around the world and to meet the requests of confederations”.
