Deputy Commissioner Daly: Russian Nichushkin was removed from the NHL application unintentionally
National Hockey League (NHL) Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly explained why the profile of suspended Russian Colorado Avalanche player Valery Nichushkin was removed from the league’s app. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Daley said it was unintentional. “I was told that when he was cut from the Colorado roster, he was automatically removed from the NHL application,” he noted.
On May 14, the NHL suspended Nichushkin for six months, transferring him to the third stage of player assistance. During this period, the athlete will not receive wages. In January 2024, the Russian already participated in the assistance program, which is aimed at treating alcohol or drug addiction, solving problems with gambling or mental health.
In the current playoffs, the 29-year-old Russian forward played eight matches in which he scored nine goals and made one assist. Nichushkin is tied with Zach Hyman for first place in goals in the current Stanley Cup, but he was removed from the list in the league app.
