Ex-Saints, Rwan Cruz stands out in Ludogorets and wins Bulgarian Championship

Ludogorets won the Bulgarian League last Saturday. The club beat CSKA Sofia, 3-1, and lifted the cup at the end of the match. One of the characters in this League achievement is Brazilian striker Rwan Cruz, who was revealed by Santos in 2022 and went through the Vasco in the 2023 season.

“Two titles, so far, in my first season here, I’m very happy about that. It’s a unique moment in my career and I want to make the most of it. It’s not easy adapting to a new country, it’s all very different, but I’m happy that I managed to do it. It’s a process that takes time, but everything gets much better with achieving our goals at the end of the season”, said the former Santos player.

The player was one of the team’s top scorers in the competition. In total, there were 28 games, 11 goals and five assists. The number 99 celebrated his new achievement wearing the Bulgarian team’s shirt. At the start of the season, he had already won the Bulgarian Super Cup in February.

Ludogorets won the National League for the 13th time in a row. In the first phase of the competition, the team achieved 75 points in 30 games, which made the team reach first place overall, qualifying for the playoffs for the title.

In the second half, a draw and the last victory were enough to guarantee another cup. Rwan commented that one of the reasons that made him sign with the club was its history of winning on the national stage.

“When I arrived at Ludogorets, I knew it was a very traditional team in Bulgaria. It fought for all competitions, especially the national ones and I am very honored to be part of another beautiful page in the Club’s history. Winning titles is always very good and they are fruits of a job very well done by the team”, concluded the player.

At 22 years old, Rwan initially stood out in Santos’ youth categories, in the runner-up of the 2022 Copa São Paulo de Futebol Junior, when he competed for the competition’s star award. There were nine games, with six goals and two assists distributed.

For the Alvinegro Praiano professional team, Rwan played a total of 37 games and found the net on five occasions, in addition to providing an assist. The player also played for the youth divisions of Flamengo de Guarulhos and Vasco da Gama, on loan.
