Before last year’s parliamentary elections, it was hot not only on Polish Television. Then the program “Kabaret na. Młodzi i moralni”, which was extremely popular, was suddenly removed from Polsat’s air. At the time, most of the skits were about politics and were clearly anti-government in nature. Many viewers and cabaret artists said this was a form of censorship.
Polsat downloaded cabarets from the schedule and from Internet channels. This year, a festival without cabaret
Cabarets have not returned to the solar station’s schedule to this day. The guests of the last episode of the “WojewódzkiKędzierski” podcast were Kabaret Młodych Panów. Its members directly stated that the decision of the Polsat broadcaster divided society.
We read the information that came to our management that ‘after the elections you will eat your own shit’ etc., but we approached it with distance and did not take it seriously – we hear.
Kabaret Młodych Panów talked to the head of Polsat. They heard “I’m sorry”, but they had previously been asked about political topics
The leader of the Young Gentlemen Cabaret said that the artists recently held a meeting with the president of Polsat, the son of Zygmunt Solorz-Żak. – We’re not offended, it’s just… We were at the meeting [Robert Korólczyk – przyp. red.] and Robert Górski with the president, the new president, Mr. Piotr [Żaka – przyp. red.] and said that this situation should not have happened, there was a lack of communication, we heard “I’m sorry” – he admitted. Later in the conversation, the cabaret artists returned to October 2023.
It was probably a bit of a panic attack. I have the impression that someone said ‘there will be no cabarets’ and the other one heard ‘we are throwing everything away just in case’ – said Łukasz Kaczmarczyk.
– There were sketches that did not say anything against PiS and were also deleted – added Bartek Demczuk. In turn, the leader of the Young Gentlemen Cabaret stated that in his opinion “there was some kind of top-down censorship.” Interestingly, the station itself was supposed to demand political topics in the sketches.
I have the impression that an overzealous employee acted the way he did. The best thing about this story is that when the ‘Young and Moral’ program began, we were asked to stay up to date and discuss current topics, i.e. elections and politics.
– What we created was, in a way, also made to order, because it is a private station and it can decide what it broadcasts and what it does not broadcast – added Robert Korólczyk.
