Zenit will sign a new five-year contract with head coach Sergei Semak. This was reported on the website of the St. Petersburg club.
The agreement will be signed on May 25, the day of Zenit’s 99th anniversary. Chairman of the Board of Directors Elena Ilyukhina noted that the contract amount of the head coach, as well as his staff and key players who have made a significant contribution to the team’s results over the previous five years, will be increased.
After 28 matches of the Russian Premier League, Zenit is in second place in the standings with 51 points and is second only to Dynamo (53 points). In the Russian Cup, the blue-white-sky blues reached the final of the RPL Path, where they compete with CSKA (1:1 in the first match).
Semak has headed Zenit since 2018. Together with the team, the specialist became the champion of Russia five times, won the country’s Cup and won four Super Cups.
