Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot recalled when he played alongside striker Cristiano Ronaldo, currently at Al-Nasr, in an interview with the magazine United We Stand and praised his preparation for the matches. The athletes played together for the Red Devils between 2021 and 2022. In addition, they are also teammates on the Portuguese national team.
“I met Cristiano and became more obsessed with recovery and physical and mental preparation for the games. We talk frequently and we talk when new tools or nutritional topics emerge. I started to prioritize sleep and nutrition patterns and have been working with a nutritionist for three years. It was a positive change for me,” he said.
Dalot also spoke about how this change impacted his football. In the current season, the 25-year-old defender played 47 games, scored two goals and provided seven assists.
“This year, I got it into my head that I needed to be like this to show that I can be a top player in world football,” he said.
Finally, the full-back talked about the best players he has ever faced.
“Mbappé, for Portugal’s under-19s against France. The following year, he joined Monaco’s starting team and shone. I played against Cristiano Ronaldo, when he was at Juventus, and against Messi, who played for Barcelona, in a United game in the Champions League.”
Diogo Dalot and Cristiano Ronaldo are expected to play together again for the Portuguese team in this year’s European Championship. The competition will be held in Germany and takes place between June 14th and July 14th.
