Usik called victory at the 2012 Olympic Games the biggest achievement in his career
Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usik named the biggest achievement in his career. The athlete spoke about him in an interview with the Mail Sport Boxing YouTube channel.
Usik remembered that after an unsuccessful performance at his first Olympics (at the 2008 Games in Beijing he lost in the second fight – approx. “Tapes.ru”) he was thinking about leaving amateur boxing for professional boxing. According to the Ukrainian, a friend persuaded him to continue on the path to Olympic gold.
Usik won the 2012 Olympic Games and called it his greatest achievement. “If you haven’t won a world championship belt as a professional now, you can do it in five or six months or a year. But not in four,” he explained.
On May 18, Usik will fight against Briton Tyson Fury. The fight will take place in Saudi Arabia. The Ukrainian has 21 victories in 21 fights. He holds the World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF), International Boxing Organization (IBO) and WBA Super heavyweight championship belts.
