Leverkusen thrashes Bochum and approaches Alemão’s undefeated title

German champions Bayer Leverkusen beat Bochum this Sunday in the 33rd round of the Bundesliga by a score of 5-0. The match took place at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion, Bochum’s home ground, and marked the end of the round.

Leverkusen came to the field wanting to continue their historic undefeated streak, as well as winning the German title without losing a single game. The team led by Xabi Alonso has 87 points after 33 matches played in the league, with 27 wins and six draws.

Bayer Leverkusen’s next and last game in the German Championship is at home, against Augusburg, next Saturday (18). Bochum will try to score and guarantee their stay against Werder Bremen away from home, also next Sunday.

THE GAME

The game started with intense dominance from the home team, who managed to put pressure on the champions for the first 15 minutes. At this point, German full-back Felix Passlack destroyed a clear move by Leverkusen, which resulted in a red card for the player.

After the expulsion, Bayer Leverkusen took control of the match and began to dominate Bochum. Patrick Schick opened the scoring for the visitors in the 41st minute, finishing from the left after an assist from Brazilian full-back Arthur, formerly of América-MG.

Leverkusen’s top scorer in the league, Victor Boniface, added to the team in the 47th minute by taking a penalty.

The second half followed the same script, with Bayer maintaining broad dominance over 14th place. Amine Adli extended the leaders’ advantage in the 31st minute of the second half (7 minutes after coming off the bench), heading in a corner.

The fourth goal came from a beautiful shot by Croatian Josip Stanisic, in the 41st minute of the second half. There was still time for left-back Alejandro Grimaldo to score the fifth after a counterattack, which gave final numbers to the match
