Kooij wins the sprint in Naples and Pogacar remains in pink

The Dutch Olav Kooij (Visma Lease a Bike) has won the sprint in the ninth stage of the Giro d’Italiaheld this Sunday with a 214 kilometer route between Avezzano and Naples, in which Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates) has maintained the pink jersey as leader.
Kooij has won in extremis in a very close sprintby ahead of the Italian Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) and by Colombian Sebastián Molano (UAE Emirates).
In the final kilometers Jonatahan Narváez (INEOS Grenadiers) attacked. The Ecuadorian has gained a few meters advantage over the peloton, he has been close to achieving victory, but has been absorbed by the peloton a few meters from the finish line.
In general there are no changes. Pogacar remains firmly at the forefrontwith 2 minutes and 40 seconds ahead of the Colombian Daniel Felipe Martínez (Bora-hansgrohe) and 2 minutes and 58 seconds compared to the Welshman Geraint Thomas (INEOS Grenadiers).
