Vollering shows off in the last stage and wins the Itzulia 2024

Demi Vollering (SD Works-Protime) was proclaimed champion of the Itzulia Women 2024. The Dutch attacked with 30 kilometers to go and took the victory after leaving all his rivals behind. Mischa Bredewold (SD Works-Protime) was second overall and Juliette Labous (DSM-Firmenich PotNL) third.
The cyclists faced a route of 114.9 kilometers starting and finishing in San Sebastián. The breakaway had an advantage of up to almost three minutes over the peloton, but with 50 kilometers to go the SD Works accelerated the pace of the peloton and began to reduce the disadvantage with the head of the race.
The platoon ruined the escape in the port of Mendizorrotz, 30 kilometers to the finish line. So, In the last kilometer of the climb, Demi Vollering attacked and Juliette Labous left with her. However, Labous could not keep up with Vollering. The Dutchwoman was left alone at the head of the race.
Behind Vollering a group was formed with the following cyclists: Juliette Labous, Niamh Fisher-Black (SD Works-Protime), Marlen Reusser (SD Works-Protime), Isabella Holgrem (Lidl-Trek), Amanda Spratt (Lidl-Trek), Evita Muzic (FDJ-Suez), Pauliena Rooijakkers (Fenix-Deceuninck) and Thalita De Jong (Lotto Dstny). His objective was to try to hunt down Vollering. Leader Mischa Bredewold (SD Works-Protime) was left behind in another group.
Vollering, who rode 30 kilometers at the front of the race, won the stage and took the final victory of the Itzulia Women. Behind, Bredewold entered the chasing group and the places of honor were decided in the sprint. De Jong was second in the stage and Bredeold third.
Therefore, Demi Vollering finished the race at the top of the general classification, Bredewold was second and Labous completed the podium finishing Itzulia in third position.
