Sobol stated that due to a lack of carbohydrates, an athlete’s blood sugar level may drop, which will immediately affect the athlete’s training and well-being. The production of the stress hormone cortisol will also increase, which destroys the immune system and contributes to excess weight gain.
In addition, the expert listed categories of people for whom intense training on an empty stomach is contraindicated. These include pregnant women, people with low blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and endocrine pathologies.
