Vyacheslav Koloskov spoke about the invitation from UEFA to the Euro 2024 matches
Honorary President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Vyacheslav Koloskov said that the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) invited him to the Euro 2024 matches. His words are quoted by Match TV.
The functionary said that he was invited to the opening match, the playoff round meetings and the final. “But I refused because of logistics. You need to get through Turkey, two sleepless nights, then get to one hotel, after the match to another city to another hotel,” Koloskov said.
The functionary headed the RFU from 1992 to 2005. He also served on the executive committees of UEFA and the International Football Federation (FIFA). The 2024 European Championship will take place from June 14 to July 14 in 10 cities in Germany.
On February 28, 2022, FIFA and UEFA excluded Russian national teams and clubs from international tournaments. Clubs do not compete in European competitions, and the Russian national team lost the opportunity to compete for access to the final part of the 2022 World Cup and did not participate in the Euro 2024 qualifications.
