The WADA press service announced a threat to the health of athletes at the Friendship Games
The press service of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) spoke about holding the Friendship Games in Russia. TASS reports this.
“The health and fairness of athletes may be at risk. WADA urges all individuals and athletes who have signed the code to exercise caution,” the agency said. WADA added that the concern stems from the inability to vouch for the anti-doping program that may exist at competitions.
Earlier, the General Director of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), Veronika Loginova, announced the refusal of some foreign laboratories to accept samples from athletes from the Friendship Games. “We are taking all possible measures to ensure doping control,” Loginova noted.
The Friendship Games will be held in September 2024 in Moscow and Yekaterinburg. The tournament will include competitions in 33 Olympic and non-Olympic sports.
