After the negative result, the Roma coach revealed that he felt proud of taking the team to the semi-finals, despite falling to a superior team, according to him.
“I learn something from every game. In Roma’s history, only 4 or 5 coaches have reached a European semi-final and I feel proud of that. I have to thank the athletes, but my job is to analyze why we didn’t reach the final. Bayer are stronger than us and we have to respect them”, he told Sky Sport’s microphones.
“We played very well in the first half. The athletes played an incredible game, it was a match of great physical and mental effort. They played well, they scored several times on goal, but when you concede a very unfortunate goal, it hurts”, he added.
Now, Roma turns its attention to the Italian Championship. For the competition, the team will face Atalanta next Sunday, at 3:45 pm (Brasília time), at the Gewiss Stadium. Bayer Leverkusen takes the field against Bochum, also on Sunday, in the Bundesliga, which they won in advance.
