Plyushchev said that he will watch the World Hockey Championship, as he needs to know his opponents
Former head coach of the Russian national hockey team Vladimir Pluschev explained why he is interested in the World Championship even in the absence of Russians at the tournament. His words are quoted by Sport Express.
According to him, a person who is fond of hockey cannot miss such a tournament under any circumstances. “There are teams represented there that we will have to fight with later. In order to defeat an opponent, you need to know him,” said Plyushchev.
“All this demagoguery that we are not interested in this and don’t need anything there is quite strange,” the coach noted, adding that he will watch the matches whenever possible.
The 2024 World Cup will be held in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic, from May 10 to 26. The national teams of Russia and Belarus will miss the tournament due to sanctions from the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
