Bayern coach Tuchel blames referees for Champions League semi-final defeat

The head coach of Bayern Munich, Thomas Tuchel, commented on the team’s defeat in the semi-finals of the Champions League of the 2023/2024 season from Real Madrid. His words are quoted by the BBC.

The specialist blamed the judges for the defeat, calling their decisions catastrophic. In his opinion, the line referee should not have raised the offside flag when Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt scored the ball.

The meeting between the teams took place in Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium and ended with a score of 2:1 in favor of the hosts. Munich defender Alphonso Davies opened the scoring. Madrid was saved from defeat by a double from striker Joselu, who scored in the 88th and first added minutes of the second half.

Bayern’s decision to part ways with Tuchel became known on February 21. The specialist who headed the club last spring will leave the team early; initially, his contract was valid until June 2025. The decision was mutual.
