Cyclist Lyubimova explained the transition to the French team due to a good structure
Former Russian cyclist Valeria Lyubimova explained her move to the French national team. Her words are quoted by Le Parisien.
The athlete said that she chose France because of its good structure. “In Russia, everyone trained on their own, but here there is a clear structure that helps to achieve a high level,” she noted. 19-year-old Lyubimova added that she would like to go to the Olympic Games in Paris, but is ready to wait another four years.
On November 29, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that it had approved the change of citizenship for Lyubimova. The decision was made ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The Olympic Games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. If a number of conditions are met, Russians will be able to compete in the individual competitions of the tournament in a neutral status.
