Champion of the Portuguese Championship this Sunday, coach Rúben Amorim confirmed that he will stay at Sporting for next season. The coach was rumored for teams like Liverpool and West Ham, but decided to remain in Alvalade.
“I’m staying at Sporting. I have a contract and it is a special moment for me and the club. Now let’s try to win the third title together. Let’s try to make it happen.”, said Rúben Amorim to journalists after winning the Portuguese Championship.
In command of Sporting, Rúben Amorim played 210 games, won 147 matches, has 32 draws and 31 defeats. He was champion of the Portuguese Championship twice, once of the Portuguese Super Cup and twice of the Portuguese League Cup.
In addition to winning this year’s national championship, Rúben Amorim and Sporting will try to win the Portuguese Cup. The final against Porto is scheduled for May 26th, Sunday, at 1:15 pm (Brasília time).
