Tim Tszyu on preparing for a fight under the guidance of his father: it’s time for the old man to teach the youth
Tim Tszyu, the son of former absolute world boxing champion Kostya Tszyu, said on social networks X about preparing for the title fight under the guidance of his father.
“It’s time for the old man to teach the youngsters a few new tricks. I’m starting a new training camp with a completely different mindset. Kill or be killed,” the athlete shared. Tszyu Jr. noted that he was returning to the old school, to his roots and to his childhood.
On August 4, Tszyu will fight with American Virgil Ortiz for the title of interim world champion in junior middleweight according to the World Boxing Association (WBA). The fight will take place in Los Angeles (USA).
On the night of March 31, Tim Tszyu suffered the first defeat in his career. He lost to American Sebastian Fundora. The fight lasted all 12 rounds. The winner was determined by a split decision of the judges. Tszyu Jr. failed to defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior middleweight title for the second time and missed the opportunity to win the World Boxing Council (WBC) title.
