PSV Eindhoven is Dutch champion for the 25th time in history

PSV Eindhoven won its 25th Dutch championship title this Sunday, after a 4-2 victory over Sparta Rotterdam.

The players led by coach Peter Bosz, who have suffered just one defeat in the Eredivisie this season, needed a point to become champions.

With two rounds left until the end of the season, the team now has 87 points, 12 more than its closest pursuers, Feyenoord, who still face PEC Zwolle this Sunday.

This season has been historic for the ‘Rood-witten’ (Red and Whites) in the Dutch league, with just one defeat against NEC Nimegue in March and a total of 107 goals scored, with an average of 3.3 goals per game.

The Dutch club also progressed brilliantly through the Champions League group stage (in a tough group with Arsenal, Sevilla and Lens) before being knocked out in a tight round of 16 clash by Borussia Dortmund (1-1 at home in first leg; 2-0 for the Germans on the way back).

After taking charge of the team at the beginning of the season, Peter Bosz, 60, wins the first national championship title of his career as a coach, during which he managed Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon.
