Vasiliev said that Ukraine has lost its common sense, demanding the removal of the Russians
Two-time Olympic champion in biathlon Dmitry Vasilyev responded harshly to the demand of the Ukrainian sports authorities to remove Russian rowers from the 2024 Games in Paris. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Vasiliev said that the NOC of Ukraine has long lost common sense, so you should not pay attention to them. He emphasized that in this situation it is necessary to rely on the law. “The NOC of Ukraine wants to influence the entire world sport through illegal actions,” the champion considered.
Earlier on May 5, Ukrainian sports authorities sent a letter to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) demanding that Russian rowers not be allowed to participate in the Olympics in Paris. They considered that teams of athletes with Russian or Belarusian passports could not be admitted.
Nine Russian rowers are scheduled to take part in a qualifying tournament from May 8 to 9, where they will have the opportunity to win licenses to compete at the Olympics in Paris.
