Sporting surpasses Portimonense and comes close to the Portuguese Championship title

This Saturday, Sporting beat Portimonense 3-0, at Estádio de Alvalade, in the 32nd round of the Portuguese Championship. The goals of the match were scored by Paulinho, Francisco Trincão and Viktor Gyokeres.

With the result, leader Sporting reached 84 points and got closer to the competition title. Benfica, second placed, is eight points less and faces Famalicão this Sunday. In case of a draw or defeat for the Eagles, Sporting wins the national league trophy. While Portimonense occupies 16th place, with 28 points.

Sporting visits Estoril next Saturday, at 2pm (Brasília time), for the 33rd round of the Portuguese Championship. Portimonense receives Rio Ave, on the same day, at 11:30 am.

Sporting started the game with pressure and opened the scoring 12 minutes into the first half. Nuno Miguel received a great delivery from the left and crossed low to Paulinho, who finished to find the net.

In the 24th minute of the final stage, Sporting expanded. Paulinho advanced from the left, dribbled the marker and passed it to Francisco Trincão, who finished first time into the goal.

At the end of the game, 46 minutes into the second half, Sporting scored the third. Daniel Bragança received a great throw in the area, dominated the chest and tried to finish, but the ball was free to Viktor Gyokeres, who only touched it to secure the goal.
