Zhulin said that Russian figure skaters did not lose financially due to the suspension
Figure skating coach Alexander Zhulin said in an interview with the YouTube channel “This is football, brother!” about the fees of Russian figure skaters.
According to Zhulin, the athletes did not lose financially due to the suspension, because in return many other tournaments were held in Russia. “Are there a million rubles there? Even more. It is clear that not all starts of the year pay so well, but, in principle, I say that it is a sin to complain. We are always visible, we have good attendance, that’s why we get paid,” he said.
Earlier, world figure skating champion Elizaveta Tuktamysheva compared earnings from participating in competitions and in ice shows. She noted that she receives no less in the show than if she had successfully performed in tournaments.
On March 1, 2022, the International Skating Union (ISU) banned Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions under its auspices. International tournaments in the two countries were also cancelled.
