Enisey coach Tikhonov was suspended for five matches for criticizing a female referee

The coach of the Yenisei football club, Andrei Tikhonov, was suspended for criticizing the female referee Vera Opeikina. This was announced by the head of the Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union (CDC RFU), Artur Grigoryants, his words are reported by TASS.

“The RFU CDC decided to disqualify Andrei Tikhonov for five First League matches for actions aimed at humiliating the dignity of a person on the basis of gender,” Grigoryants said, adding that two games were subject to a suspended sentence.

On April 20, Enisey lost away to SKA-Khabarovsk with a score of 0:3 in the match of the 28th round of the First League. Opeikina’s referee team worked at the game. After the meeting, Tikhonov criticized the referee and called for her to be sent to Makhachkala to train.

“Enisey” ranks ninth in the First League standings. In 29 matches, the team from Krasnoyarsk scored 40 points.
