Ovechkin named Wilson as a possible future captain of the Washington Capitals
Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin suggested who could replace him as captain of the National Hockey League (NHL) Washington Capitals. His words are quoted by Russian Machine Never Breaks.
Ovechkin named Tom Wilson as a possible future captain of the club. “I think Wilson has shown leadership on and off the ice since the first day he came into the league. He is always with the team on and off the ice,” the Russian noted.
Wilson, 30, has played for Washington since 2013. In total, he played 754 matches for the team, in which he scored 146 goals and made 184 assists. Together with the club, the Canadian won the Stanley Cup in 2018.
Ovechkin has been playing in the NHL since 2005, and throughout his overseas career he has played for Washington. The Russian is also the 2018 Stanley Cup winner.
