Bayern Munich continues to look for a new coach, after Ralf Rangnick announced this Thursday (02) that he will remain in charge of the Austrian national team.
The former Manchester United and RB Leipzig manager was one of the favorites to replace Thomas Tuchel, who will leave Bayern at the end of the season, but Rangnick will continue his contract with Austria after the European Championship, which will be played from June 14 to 14. July.
“I am the coach of Austria with all my heart. This work fills me with happiness and I am determined to continue successfully on the path we have chosen. I would like to emphasize that this is not a rejection of Bayern Munich, but a decision in relation to my team and our common goals. All our concentration is on the Eurocup.”, declared the German coach, quoted in a statement published by the Austrian Football Federation this Thursday.
Rangnick became another coach on the list of those who rejected the German club. In recent weeks, Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso and Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann had already announced that they would continue in their positions, leaving aside the possibility of occupying the bench at the Allianz Arena.
