The Russian national team will play a friendly match with Belarus in Minsk on June 7
The Russian national football team will play a friendly match with Belarus. This was reported on the website of the Russian Football Union (RFU).
The meeting will take place in Minsk on June 7. This will be the first away match for the Russian team in 2024. It is noted that the game will count toward the International Football Federation (FIFA) rankings, where Russia ranks 35th and Belarus 96th.
Earlier, RFU General Secretary Maxim Mitrofanov said that Tajikistan had proposed holding a return friendly match in Russia. In November 2022, the teams played in Dushanbe, the meeting ended in a goalless draw.
Russian football clubs and national teams do not take part in international tournaments by decision of FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). Belarusian teams continue to compete, but all home matches under the auspices of UEFA have been moved to neutral grounds.
