RFU Secretary General Mitrofanov: Tajikistan proposed to hold a friendly match in Russia
General Secretary of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Maxim Mitrofanov spoke about the proposals received for holding friendly matches. His words are quoted by TASS.
“Tajikistan contacted us with a request to hold the match in Russia,” Mitrofanov said, adding that other options were also being considered. In November 2022, the teams played in Dushanbe, the meeting ended in a goalless draw.
In the last friendly match on March 21, the Russian team defeated the Serbian team at home. The game ended with a crushing score of 4:0.
Russian clubs and national teams have not taken part in international competitions since February 2022 by decision of the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations. Teams do not compete in European competitions, and the Russian national team has lost the opportunity to fight for access to the finals of the World and European Championships.
