Boxer Guruli refused to take a photo with Russian Idigov at the European Championships
Georgian boxer Lasha Guruli refused to take a photo with Russian Tarkhan Idigov at the award ceremony at the European Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. TASS reports this.
Guruli became a silver medalist, and Idigov became a European champion. During the Russian anthem, the Georgian athlete removed his award and then refused to be photographed with other medalists.
Earlier on April 28, it became known that the Russian women’s team won the medal standings at the European Championships in Belgrade. The country’s representatives won three victories at the tournament.
On October 5, 2022, the International Boxing Association (IBA), headed by Russian Umar Kremlev, admitted athletes from Russia and Belarus to international competitions under the auspices of the organization. Boxers will perform under national flags, and if they win, the national anthem will be played.
