Right at the beginning of the second half, in the 2nd minute, German Chris Fuhrich hit a beautiful left shot, after a ball hit the post, to open the score in favor of Stuttgart. Denis Undav added another for the visitors at 11.
Amine Adli quickly pulled one back for the champions, in the 16th minute, with an assist from full-back Grimaldo.
In the 30th minute of the second half, Xabi Alonso introduced starters Wirtz and Boniface to play. Strengthened, his team began to score and seek a draw.
In the last play of the match, in the 51st minute, Andrich caught a free pass in the area and equalized for Leverkusen, keeping their title chances undefeated.
