The exclusion of elements named after Russian gymnasts from the rules was explained

Titov said that the FIG banned elements of Russian gymnasts because of their danger

President of the Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation (FSGR) Vasily Titov explained the exclusion of five elements named after Russians from the rules of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). His words are quoted by Sport Express.

According to him, the FIG medical commission considers these elements dangerous, and it is now prohibited to perform them. “At the same time, the elements themselves and their names will be preserved. Just as the Korbut loop and other elements are preserved in the history of artistic gymnasts,” Titov said.

He also emphasized that a total of six elements were excluded from the rules, five of which are named after Russian women. “The last thing I would like is for this to be understood as an anti-Russian step. The elements are complex, their removal is aimed at simplifying the rules,” added Titov.

The exclusion of elements from the FIG rules for the period from 2025 to 2028 became known on April 26. We are talking about two equilibria of Zarina Gizikova and one of Olga Kapranova, as well as rotations of Gizikova and Daria Trubnikova. All athletes represent rhythmic gymnastics.
