Tarasova about the IOC’s words about Chinese swimmers: does this only apply to Russians?
Honored figure skating coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova found double standards in the words of the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach about figure skater Kamila Valieva and Chinese swimmers caught doping. Her words are quoted by Sport Express.
“So, all this applies only to Russians? No one else, or what? Or are the rules the same for everyone? What is this leader saying? – Tarasova wondered. She emphasized that Valieva’s lawyers could have used the available information if they had received it earlier.
On April 20, it was reported that 23 Chinese swimmers were caught doping and were allowed to compete in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. It was clarified that the Chinese Anti-Doping Agency conducted an investigation during which it was determined that traces of the drug were found in the kitchen of the hotel where the athletes stayed during the competition.
Valieva was disqualified for four years for doping. Traces of trimetazidine were found in the skater’s December 2021 sample.
