Ural President Ivanov called on young Russian football players to go to Europe
President of Yekaterinburg Ural Grigory Ivanov called on young Russian football players to leave for European clubs. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
According to the head of the RPL club, players need to agree to offers from good teams from Europe. “Our salaries are normal, they will not go to play somewhere in Bulgaria, Mongolia and so on,” Ivanov said.
In September 2023, the head coach of Rostov and the Russian national team, Valery Karpin, called on Russian players to leave for European clubs. The coach added that he feels the difference between the level of the national team players who play in Europe and those who remain at home.
Ivanov has been the president of Ural since 2003. This season, after 25 rounds, the Ekaterinburg club is in 14th place in the RPL with 24 points.
