Deputy Svishchev allowed the tightening of anti-doping legislation in Russia
Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports Dmitry Svishchev allowed the tightening of anti-doping legislation in Russia. He announced this in a conversation with Lenta.ru.
“Today we can honestly say that Russian anti-doping legislation is one of the most clearly regulated. Athletes must know and understand responsibility. And everything is very clearly spelled out,” said Svishchev.
At the same time, the deputy noted that the “businessmen” who are trying to create and distribute prohibited drugs and methods—doping—and persuade athletes to use them are becoming more sophisticated.
“We have to regulate legislation and change it. Therefore, from this point of view, the legislation may change, and we fully accept its tightening,” he concluded.
Earlier, the Director General of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), Veronika Loginova, stated that she was offended by the actions of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) towards the country. She said that the employees were offended by the statements of the head of WADA, Witold Banka, that were offensive to the Russian anti-doping system.
