In the fourth match of the final series, the Ural club beat Yaroslavl Lokomotiv 2:1 on the road. Yaroslavl opened the scoring in the middle of the first period through the efforts of Yaroslav Likhachev. Magnitogorsk equalized in the second period when Denis Zernov scored. The author of the winning goal for the Urals in the third period was Daniil Vovchenko, who converted the numerical majority.
Metallurg won the series with a score of 4:0 and won the Gagarin Cup for the third time in history. Previously, the Magnitogorsk club managed to take the trophy in the 2013/2014 and 2015/2016 seasons.
