This Wednesday, Ralf Rangnick, Austria’s current coach, confirmed that he was approached by Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club continues to search for a new coach, after announcing that Thomas Tuchel would leave the team at the end of European competitions.
“Bayern Munich contacted me and I informed the OFB (Austrian Football Federation). We have a very trusting relationship. My attention is focused on the Austrian team. We are totally focused on the European Championship. I am very comfortable here. Now, there is no reason to think about it in an intense and concrete way”, said Rangnick in an interview with the Austrian portal 90Minuten.
The 65-year-old German coach also revealed when he could consider managing Bayern.
“From the moment Bayern tells me: we want you. And then I would have to ask myself: is this what I want?”, he said.
Despite the Bavarians’ interest, Ralf Rangnick continues his preparations for the European Championship in charge of Austria. The tournament will be played between June and July, in Germany.
Three other names speculated at Bayern Munich have already confirmed that they will remain in their teams. Xabi Alonso announced that he will remain at Bayer Leverkusen next season. Unai Emery renewed his contract with Aston Villa and Julian Nagelsmann also extended his contract with the German national team.
Still with Thomas Tuchel, Bayern Munich takes the field this Saturday, at 10:30 am (BrasÃlia time), against Eintracht Frankfurt, at the Allianz Arena, for the German Championship.
